are all your cells in agreement?

So I had the best time in Buenos Aires last weekend. There I realized how good every weekend has been, there hasn't been a time where I'm not doing exactly what I want to be doing. Out of 13 of us 12 came, minus the one who's furthest away, but even including the ones stationed in Chile! Well it's pretty hard to mobilize a group of 12 foreigners so we saw less than I'd naively hoped, but enough - the famous Recoleta cemetery, the artsy neighbourhood of La Boca, the international annual book fair, and some movies and lots of food and lots of boliches. Sleeping late and having the craic with some Irish chums in a makeshift Bostonian hostel. I slept in a different bed every night.

I think anyone who gets a placement in Rafaela at La Plaza school is extremely lucky. I have the nicest students, kind of on the preppy side, but altogether innocent (nothing like Central), a small school, and very manageable hours. No morning classes on Monday and no classes at all on Friday, enabling weekend travel pretty easily. Teachers are in general dedicated and the supervisor, while clearly professional, clearly your boss, is rational and easy to work with.

I've been playing games this week, in school. Monday happened to be the day all the teachers had prepared certain language games, Tuesday was the day I had prepared nothing so I had all the kids play 7 Up (and they fing loved it), and today I had just 1 class and we played Taboo. Oh, and they fing loved that too. So it's getting very easy.

This weekend the plan is to have very Rafaelan fun. Probably going to the club with my newly acquired local friends, going to Carlos's volunteer dinner on Saturday, and a nice big asado (grill, barbecue) on Sunday. And maybe meeting the French exchange student who as of last week lives a block away. May will start off a little tranquil like this, but soon explode into a big orgy of travelling. It looks like I'll be going to Rio de Janeiro again at the end of the month, then the northern Argentinean city of Salta and surrounding features, bringing us into June and a weekend trip to Mendoza and some wineries and the surrounding mountains a few hours away, a goodbye weekend to Rafaela, then Peru for Machu Picchu, bringing us to the end of June and the arrival of Avni. So I'm a little sad to think that my time getting to know Rafaela is now turning into a long goodbye - but of course ecstatic at the thought of all I'm going to be seeing and doing between now and the end of July. And I can't say I'd rather have it a shred different.

Oh, and by the way - today was the first time I beat Thomas in pool, not on a technicality (scratch on the 8 ball, e.g.). A prideful day; I am getting better.

HAHA, i ruined my surprise. i thought you may have gotten the package but not had a cd player to hear it, so that's why you asked me how it was.

ACT LIKE YOU DIDN'T KNOW WHEN YOU GET IT. there's a few other cds, too, but i refuse to tell you what they are now.
